Alsip Baseball Code of Conduct

Alsip baseball is built on respect, fair play, and fun. Our goal is a positive, safe environment where every kid can learn the game, compete, and enjoy it. By registering, each family agrees to the expectations below for both parents and players.

The foundation of everything here is good sportsmanship and six core principles: trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and good citizenship.

Any parent, guardian, or player whose conduct violates this code may be asked to leave a game or practice and may be suspended from future games. Repeat violations may result in a multi-game suspension or loss of the privilege of attending games for the season.

Parents and Guardians

I agree that:

1. I will remember that kids play for fun, and that the game is for the players, not the adults.
2. I will be a positive role model and encourage good sportsmanship by showing respect and courtesy to all players, coaches, officials, and spectators at every game and practice.
3. I will not engage in unsportsmanlike conduct with any official, coach, player, or parent, including booing, taunting, refusing to shake hands, or using profane language or gestures.
4. I will respect the officials and their decisions. I will not argue with, confront, or yell at coaches or umpires during a game. If I have a concern, I will raise it with the coach at an agreed time and place, away from the field.
5. I will not coach my child or other players from the stands during games or practices unless I am an official coach of the team.
6. I will praise my child for effort and fair play, and I will not ridicule or yell at any player for making a mistake or losing.
7. I will emphasize skill development, learning, and fun over winning, especially in the younger divisions.
8. I will demand that my child treat all players, coaches, officials, and spectators with respect, regardless of race, religion, color, sex, or ability.
9. I will not encourage any behavior that would endanger the health or well-being of any player.
10. I will inform my child's coach of any physical condition or ailment that may affect the safety of my child or others.
11. I will help provide a sports environment free of drugs, tobacco, and alcohol, and I will refrain from their use at all team events.
12. I will learn and follow the rules of the game and the policies of the league.

Players

I agree that:

1. I will play hard, play fair, and follow the rules of the game.
2. I will respect my coaches, teammates, opponents, umpires, and fans, and I will treat everyone the way I want to be treated.
3. I will show good sportsmanship, win or lose, including shaking hands and congratulating opponents.
4. I will not use profanity, taunting, trash talk, or unsportsmanlike gestures.
5. I will listen to my coaches, hustle, and give my best effort at games and practices.
6. I will support my teammates and never bully, tease, or put down another player.
7. I will accept the umpire's decisions without arguing or showing disrespect.
8. I will take care of my equipment, the fields, and the dugouts, and clean up after myself.
9. I will tell a coach or my parents if I am hurt or do not feel well.
10. I will keep a positive attitude, have fun, and remember that mistakes are part of learning the game.
